Khuzestan prepares to welcome Nowruz travelers
TEHRAN – Tens of villages in Khuzestan province are targeted to host tourists as the spring holidays are on their way.
According to the provincial tourism director, Khuzestan has been preparing to welcome more than 8 million tourists in the course of the upcoming Nowruz, which marks the Persian new year.
Speaking at the meeting on Monday, held in the wake of coordinating Nowruz travels, Mohammad-Hossein Arastozadeh singled out 267 villages as targeted destinations to host tourists in comparison to 14 villages that formerly were known to visitors.
The official further detailed the destinations, stating that the identified villages are home to many natural and historical wonders which shed light on their precious capacities to welcome tourists.
He also stressed that for the first time, exploiting the villages’ capacities to accommodate Nowruz travelers is underway.
Revealing the official statistics, Arastozadeh mentioned some eight million tourists visited Khuzestan province during [the previous] spring holidays, which is expected to rise significantly regarding the forecasted pleasant climate.
Moreover, he referred to tourism as an influential sphere that is in crucial need of synergy between relevant organizations.
He also highlighted mobile applications that are designed to inform travelers about places of interest and facilities in the province.
Citing the dezful county as a great example of provincial capacities, the official mentioned the magnificent historical and natural spots of the county, which makes it a desirable destination for tourists.

The special governor of Dezful, participating in the provincial meeting, enumerated measures that are in progress to serve tourists appropriately.
Mentioning all county hotels being booked since November 21, 2023, Alireza Kheradmand revealed a plan to foster accommodation to respond to tourists’ demands.
The official also stressed that approximately four million tourists traveled to Dezful during the last Nowruz holidays, which brings to light the importance of taking measures in hosting visitors properly.
Mentioning the renovation plan of the old bridge of Dezful, one of the most valuable monuments in Khuzestan province with approximately 1800 years of history, Kheradmand declared that efforts are being made to exploit the county’s capacities at the highest standards.
“A floating restaurant will commence to serve people in the course of upcoming Nowruz,” the official noted.
Khuzestan province, located in the southwest of Iran, is home to many magnificent places of interest with natural and historical value, which makes it a memorable destination for tourists.
